Blog Journal 6

I had not used Diigo before this class, I like it and think it is a helpful tool. I like that there can be groups for certain classes which keeps it organized. It is also fairly easy to use, as a new college student using various new platforms of technology, it is nice to have some that don't take too long to learn how to use. I also like the various ways you can link pictures, articles, and more to your own page and groups pages. The title and description tools are also handy so that in groups one can see what someone thought after reading a certain article.

I have actually blogged using Blogger before but got away from it as I became busier in high school. Although I prefer writing with pen and paper, I can see the appeal of online blogging. I like that one can easily go back and refer to another blog as well as see their progress throughout the blogging process. For this class specifically, I like that it gives me a chance to reflect on what I have learned and how I might apply it to teaching in the future. I have learned that blogs can be personal as well as educational, I had really only thought of blogs as personal until I used them for this class.

An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I might use when teaching is Padlet (https://padlet.com/). This is an electronic stick note tool. Notes can be created and put on a wall, they can be text, images, videos, or links. I think this is a useful tool to use in the classroom because it will keep students engaged as well as help them share out their responses as they can be anonymous. I also like the flexibility of this tool as a variety of different links, pictures, and other tools can be used in response to a teacher's question.
